About Electric Motorcycles in Singapore

Electric motorcycle in urban cities is to provide a clean, efficient, and convenient mode of transportation for city-dwellers. Electric motorcycles are ideal for navigating through dense city traffic due to their smaller size and agility, allowing riders to easily weave through traffic and find parking in tight spaces.

Electric motorcycles can provide several advantages over gasoline-powered motorcycles, including reduced emissions, quieter operation, and lower operating costs. Additionally, electric motorcycles can be charged using electrical outlets found in most urban environments, making charging more accessible and convenient. 

EV users in Singapore can use an app to find and compare over 800 chargers in 200 locations, thanks to the LTA's development of a single platform in partnership with multiple EV charging operators. The app will display important information on charging facilities operated by Bluecharge, CDG Engie, Charge+, Shell Recharge, and SP Mobility.

LTA plans to launch a large-scale tender to install EV chargers in nearly 2,000 HDB carparks, with the goal of deploying an additional 12,000 charging points by 2025 to meet the expected increase in demand for EVs.

*Starting from 1 April 2020, higher-powered electric motorcycles with power ratings exceeding 10 kilowatts (kW) can be registered with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) for use on public roads. At present, only electric motorcycles with power ratings below or equal to 10 kW are allowed on public roads in Singapore. In addition, electric motorcycles with a top speed of 50 km/h and above will be allowed on expressways starting from 1 April 2020.
